Imants Rotary Spaders

STANDARD SPADERS: The principal features of the standard  spading machines are their simplicity and solid construction, which makes them the ideal single pass tillage tool. The narrower models are used primarily by landscapers, greenhouses, nurseries, vineyards, and organic farmers. The wider models are utilized for general field cultivation and as a replacement to the plow. An Imants spading machine can incorporate large amounts of organic material, such as crop residue, straw, compost or green manure. With regular use, both the aerobic quality of the soil and drainage is greatly improved, while fields may be prepared for planting in just one pass with use of the spader with power harrow. These spading machines are available in various sizes and models.

32 Series Machines: L or light duty model, works down to 12”, available only in 4 foot working width.  This model is intended for tractors under 25 hp and for working greenhouse or garden-type soils  (no rocks or heavy clay).  Average working speed 0.5mph, operates on 540PTO, delivered with or without power harrow.

35 series machines:  Works down to 14”, available in working widths from 4 to 8.3 ft with 3 different gearbox sizes.  Delivered with or without power harrow.  Requires an average of 8-10 hp per working foot and tractor should have creeper gear, hydrostatic, or vario transmission. Operates on 540PTO with working speed range from 0.6 to 1.2 mph.  These models are most suited for small to medium-sized growers.

45 Series Machines:

The 45 series spading machines are generally used in tree nurseries, vineyards, and other applications where a greater working depth (up to 20”) is required. Also, the larger amount of tunnel space inside of the machine and faster rotation of the spadebanks allows for a higher working speed and more thorough mixing and incorporation of cover crops, soil amendments, etc. Available in various working widths from 4ft up to 15ft in many different model types and configurations. Options include hydraulic harrow control, torque limiting clutch, bolt-on spades, and heavy-duty SP arms for stony soil conditions.

HIGH SPEED SPADERS: This new series of spading machines does away with the myth of spading machines being to slow for large scale agriculture.  With working speeds on some models being up to 6mph, spading can be peformed both efficiently and cost effectively on even the largest operations

37 Series “Revolution”

Designed for tractors in the 80-100 hp range, available in 7.5, 8.5, or 10 ft working widths.  Comes standard with power harrow and operates on 1000 PTO. These spaders have an average working speed of 2.5mph @ 10-12” and are intended for medium-sized growers.   The 10-foot model will work approximately 2.5 acres per hour.

47 Series “Revolution”:

Designed for tractors in the 120-160hp range and available in 8.5, 10, and 12ft working widths.  Comes standard with power harrow and operates on 1000 PTO. These spaders have an average working speed of 3.5mph @ 10-14” and are suited for medium to larger-sized operations.   The 10-foot model will work approximately 3.75 acres per hour

57 Series “Revolution”

Designed for tractors in the 250-350 hp range, available in 10 and 15 ft working widths.  Comes standard with power harrow and operates on 1000 PTO.  These spaders have an average working speed of over 5mph @ 10-14” and are suited for larger-sized operations.   The 15-foot model will work approximately 9.4 acres per hour.

Deep Spaders:  A deep spader is a machine which works the soil to depths deeper than 2 feet, with models that can work down to a maximum depth of up to 56”.   Fracturing and mixing the soil to extreme depths, these machines are used primarily for soil remediation and decontamination purposes, or in special preparation of agricultural soils.

60 Series Machines:

The 60 series machine is built to work to a depth of 24 inches, therefore eliminating the need to subsoil. This machine is used to break up compacted soil layers and to mix the soil thoroughly. The machine is popular for initial soil preparation of orchards, vineyards, nurseries and other perennial crops where proper compaction relief and drainage /aeration improvement is critical to healthy plant health.  Working depth down to 24”, working widths available from 5 to 9 feet.  Power requirements are approximately 12-15hp per working foot, and a creeper, hydro, or vario transmission is required along with a suitable 3-point lift capacity.  These models are used for primarily in vineyards and in orchard bed preparation, or in any application where a deep, one-pass seedbed is required.  This is the deepest working series that can be equipped with a power harrow

70 Series Machines:

The main purpose of this machine is to work the soil up to greater depths. The machines has the same driveline as the 50-series machine. This means a central gearbox and on each side two planetary gearboxes.   Working depth down to 36”, available in either 7.6 or 9ft working width. These spaders require tractors in the 220-270hp range and a creeper, hydro, or vario transmission.  These models are not available with a power harrow, are 3-point hitch mounted, and used primarily for soil remediation, mixing of fragipan layers, or anywhere that a deep blending and thorough decompaction of soil strata is needed.

135 Series Machines

.  Working depth down to 56”, working width of 10ft.  This spader requires a tractor in the 350 hp range, with creeper, hydro, or vario transmission.  This model is pulled on tractor drawbar with its own carrier/lift system, weighs 11 tons, and is not available with a power harrow.
